Fire Safety
What type of system applies to you?
Whether it is a simple domestic property that typically requires a Grade D system or a commerical premises where a Grade A system is needed, we can provide a solution to all your fire safety requirements.
Providing expert advice to private individuals or landlords who are unsure of the current legislation and also offering advice to building designers who need to install a fully approved fire alarm system.
Fire safety is governed by legislation namely The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and supported by BS5839: Part 1 (2017) for commerical properties and Part 6 (2013) for domestic dwellings.
Our aim is to translate these laws and recommendations into a straightforward understanding of what is required.
For commercial properties adhering to BS5839:Part 1 2017 the following guide should prove useful BS Guide 2017.
For domestic properties BS5839:Part 6 2019 sets out specific recommendations concerning the design and installation of fire alarm systems for new build and existing dwellings.
They are generally characterised by a Grading System from A-F1 (with A being the highest level of protection installed). Most private residential homes typically fall within Grade D or F, however it is worth noting that rented houses, HMO’s and houses with 3 floors and above may require a mixture of Grade A and D.
A Fire Risk Assessment will normally indicate the most appropriate level of protection required.
We can also provide advice on fire extinguishers, fire blankets and the very latest in fire suppression systems for both commercial and domestic kitchens.
